A Geek’s Reaction to the Avengers: Infinity War Trailer #2

By Danny F. Santos (doddleNEWS)

Every so often, there’s a movie that exists as a climax to an entire series. The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, and Star Wars: Return of the Jedi all come to mind. None of those films have even come close to what Marvel Studios has done. Even when Star Wars: Episode IX hits the big screen next year — telling a nine-part story that’s been more than four decades in the making — it still hasn’t racked up the sheer number of hours that Marvel has committed to celluloid. The studio has produced 18 movies in the past ten years and it all culminates in Avengers: Infinity War.

Let’s just bask in a moment for this shot.

If you’re like me, you are completely excited to watch this movie the moment it premieres surrounded by fans that have championed the franchise for the last decade. While there’s still more than a month to go, Marvel has graced us with a brand new trailer that consists of all new footage. Check out the trailer here and below!

And, that’s not all as Marvel has also released a brand new poster for the film with the new release date! That’s a lot of characters on a cover…

avengers: infinity warI haven’t felt this excited for a bunch of superheroes to team up in a movie since, well, the first Avengers film! The sheer number of characters in this blows my mind and yet it seems like we’ll get a lot of character moments throughout the movie. We also get a sense of how the film will play out with the Avengers trying to set a trap on Earth.

We know that Thanos gets his hands on the space stone and power stone as shown on the infinity gauntlet. The reality stone location is unknown but was last seen with Benicio del Toro’s character The Collector on Knowhere as seen in the post credit scene of Thor: The Dark World. Knowhere seems to pop up in the trailer briefly early on looking abandoned so it is equally possible Thanos or the Guardians of the Galaxy get their hands on it. The mind stone and time stone are located on Earth which explains Tony Stark’s plan of trying to set a trap for Thanos on Earth. We still have no idea where the soul stone is so I suspect we still haven’t seen much or possibly any footage from the final half of the movie.

Avengers: Infinity War is supposed to be a game-changer of a movie. Most of the characters are safe during these films but Infinity War seems to be a very different beast altogether. Many of the original Phase One actors will see their contracts come to a close. It’s been speculated that both Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. will be bowing out after effectively leading the franchise for the last ten years and this would be the movie to go out on passing a torch to the next generation.

Avengers: Infinity War arrives in theaters on April 27th.
