Editing 4K Multicam Footage in Final Cut Pro X on a New Mac Pro

By Heath McKnight (doddleNEWS)

Our friends Steve Martin and Mark Spencer have already purchased a brand new, monster Mac Pro, and now it’s time to put it through its true paces. And the best way to do it is by editing 4K multicam footage, shot on RED, in Final Cut Pro X. Before we get to the video here’s a recap of the late-2013 Apple Mac Pro system the guys at Ripple Training and MacBreak Studio are using:

  • 8-Core Intel Processor
  • 32GB of RAM
  • AMD Dual FirePro D700 Graphics Cards
  • 512GB SSD hard drive
  • Promise Technology Pegasus2 24TB R8 RAID, Thunderbolt 2 (wow!)
  • Sharp 32-inch 4K monitor (PN-K321)
  • Apple 27-inch Thunderbolt Display

Wow! Their recommendations make sense to get the most out of the Mac Pro when cutting multicam 4K footage. Special thanks to Mark and Steve at RippleTraining.com and hat tip: FCP.co
