Hollywood’s most troubled project in recent memory, The Crow Reborn, looks set to start filming early next year.
And with cameras scheduled to start rolling early next year, Momoa has teased the start of production on Instagram. Posting an artist’s rendering of the cult character, the actor tagged in director Corin Hardy with the caption: “I’ve been waiting for sooooo long. @corinhardy let’s do this brother aloha j.”
This follows James O’Barr, the creator of the original graphic novel, confirming to Screen Geek that filming was due to start next February, after years of development hell.
He said: “As of right now, it’s slated to start pre-production in February with a very talented British director named Corin Hardy. I’m involved in every aspect of the film and working closely with the director.”
More exciting news is that legendary musician and screenwriter Nick Cave, who previously penned neo-Western The Proposition (2005), has written the script and the music for the highly anticipated movie.
The original 1994 Crow picture, directed by Alex Proyas and starring Brandon Lee, gained a huge cult following after grossing $50.7 million worldwide from a $23 million budget. The film, which made headlines around the globe when star Lee was accidentally killed on set, centered on rock musician Eric Draven who rises from the dead to avenge the gangsters who murdered his girlfriend.
But The Crow was rescued by Sony Pictures in September, who have wasted no time in accelerating the movie’s development.
