Marvel One-Shot Clip: All Hail The King

A clip for Ben Kingsley’s Marvel One-Shot, All Hail The King, is finally here, and it definitely does not disappoint. If you haven’t seen Iron Man 3, be warned there are spoilers!

Written and directed by Drew Pearce (co-writer of Iron Man 3), the short film centers on Kingsley’s Trevor Slattery, the now infamous actor who played The Mandarin in the third instalment of Iron Man. Here’s the preview:

The preview is narrated by Scoot McNairy (Killing Them Softly) who plays a documentary filmmaker whose latest subject is Slattery himself.

And in the world of 24 hour rolling news, the now imprisoned actor is a worldwide celebrity, something which the character is apparently enjoying.

In keeping with Kingsley’s character, the tone of the trailer has its tongue firmly wrapped round its cheek. While we will discover more about Slattery’s past – including his failed 80s TV pilot Caged Heat – the short film will also explore his new life as a celebrity. Think OJ Simpson crossed with Mr. Bean.

Much like Marvel’s next feature Captain America: The Winter Soldier, the style of Pearce’s one-shot is retro, something which works well.

Of course, what fans really want to know is whether this One-Shot will delve into the real Mandarin and his secret organisation The Ten Rings?

All Hail the King will be available on Thor: The Dark World Blu-ray which will be released on February 25th.
