A new Media 100 tutorial
By Kevin P. McAuliffe (doddleNEWS)
In our last lesson, in our look at Media 100, we finished up by look at your Backup settings, and how to configure them, so you have the least amount of headaches if you have an application crash. In this lesson, let’s talk about the Bin Setup and your Export Presets.
Found in the “Bin Defaults” preference, this is where you are going to set up what you want the poster frame to look like, but you’re also going to set up the columns that will appear in List View in Media 100. There’s an absolutely staggering amount of options in here, and what’s important to keep in mind this that anything that you set up in here as far as list views will apply to new bins or the current bin when you select “Use Bin Defaults”.
Next, in the “Export Settings”, this is where you’re going to decide how you want things exported from Media 100. You can choose to export audio, video or both, you can choose how to export the audio, the field dominance and even if you want the export to be self contained or as a Reference Movie. Once you have your Export Preset the way you want, you can save it out, and the create multiple different outputs for whatever situation you might run into, in your edit.
