Marvel Studios was conspicuously absent at this year’s San Diego International Comic-Con, giving Warner Bros. and DC Comics their chance to shine in the convention’s famous Hall H. While I enjoyed their presentation, and they have started winning me over to their shared universe, it was 20th Century Fox’s panel (in Marvel Studios’ usual time slot) that brought the house down.

Hugh Jackman, who has played Wolverine for a decade-and-a-half now, confirmed that he was hanging up the claws, and that the third solo outing for the character would be his last. We don’t know what the plot of the next film will be, but Jackman did hint that it may be based on the Old Man Logan storyline.

Today he teased some artwork for the third Wolverine film on Twitter, and asked fans what they would like to see in the upcoming film. Here’s the tweet:

I have to say that he’s still looking pretty young in that image to play old man Logan, but I doubt that’s final artwork. It’s also the image that Jackman showed at Comic-Con.

But the film that got most of the hype during the panel was Ryan ReynoldsDeadpool. It got a standing ovation and calls from the crowd for an encore, which moderator, Chris Hardwick, obliged. A green-band version of that trailer should be hitting the net soon, but until that time, Fox has released a few more images from the Tim Miller-directed film:

We get a good look at a pre-transformation Wade Wilson speaking with his girlfriend, Vanessa, played by Morena Baccarin. The rest show him post-operation and the red suit, as well as hanging out with sidekick Negasonic Teenage Warhead, played by newcomer Brianna Hildebrand.

Deadpool will premiere in theaters on February 12, 2016, followed by Wolverine 3 on March 3, 2017.
