Well, it’s a little late, but Version 6.0 of the Panasonic Varicam LT firmware, is finally here, bringing live broadcast and multi camera control, with a host of other new video management features that will give your broadcast a cinematic look.

With this new firmware update, the Varicam LT becomes an ideal solution for broadcast applications. The Varicam LT offers 14+ stops of dynamic range, super shallow depth of field, an dual native ISO for great low light performance.

Plus, with Panasonic’s CineLive workflows, users have two different ways to shoot. There’s Live broadcast, which will enable multi camera support and remote color grading on the fly, plus dual output for clean broadcast live and then one for archival, markers and menus. The Varicam LT can also use fiber connectivity with third party transport systems like DTS, ERECA, Multidyne and Telecast.
Next comes the Near-Live applications. This is where you’re recording live performances such as concerts, sitcoms and theater, for broadcast later. In this arena, the new firmware will enable the Varicam LT to shine in 4K with shade color and multiple camera support, or HD with 4:4:4 color space in AVC-Ultra or ProRes.
CineLive color management can also work with both a live broadcast color shading, and independent Color Grading using LUTs and CDLs (color decision lists) to manage in camera color with a dedicated color pallet that can be applied to all cameras in the chain.
There’s also a remote operation feature using the Panasonic AK-HRP1000 Remote Control Panel. This provides:
